Autumn Term
1	GOSPEL What’s so radical about Jesus?	STUDENTS WILL KNOW THAT: Jesus’ teachings challenged social structures as well as individuals, disappointing some of his contemporaries, who wanted the Romans out and the People of God to rule. The Bible teaches that the good news is for all people, and should bring liberation in individuals’ lives and transform communities.
2	SALVATION Saving the world: what kinds of salvation do Christians believe in?	STUDENTS WILL KNOW THAT: For Christians, salvation is a deep concept that incorporates all the others in this scheme. It includes healing of the whole person, of society and the natural world For Christians, different ways of understanding how Jesus brings salvation depend upon which aspect of Jesus’ significance they emphasise, e.g. his teaching, his example, his death or his resurrection.
Spring Term
1	KINGDOM OF GOD	STUDENTS WILL KNOW: Christian belief and the kingdom of god. Biblical texts about heaven and life after death. Biblical texts about heaven and life after death. Protestant and roman catholic beliefs about life after death.
2	Prejudice. This topic focuses on the key religious teaching on prejudice, including religion, race, colour, gender, age, disability, class and lifestyle.	What are the causes and origins of prejudice? What are the religious teachings of tolerance, justice, harmony and the value of the individual? What can we learn from religious believers who have fought against prejudice, e.g. Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and Desmond Tutu?
Summer Term
1	War and Peace. This topic focuses on the key religious teachings on war and peace.	Can there ever be a ‘Just War’? Can there ever be a ‘Holy War’? Why are some religious believers pacifists who have worked for peace? What can religious organisations do to help the victims of war?
2	Natural World This topic focuses on religious teachings about the Natural World.	What can religions teach us about the origins of life and the Natural World of Planet Earth? What are the religious beliefs about care and our responsibility for the Natural World? What can we learn from religious believers and religious organisations who have fought against the destruction of the Natural World?
