Enrichment Activities
Our academic curriculum is supported and enriched by an extensive programme of educational visits (art galleries, museums etc.), by field work in subjects such as Geography, by language exchange programmes (with schools in Germany and China) and by visitors to the school. The Modern Foreign Languages Departments organise several annual trips and the History Department organise an annual trip to the battlefields of northern Europe.
There is an enviable and exceptional range of extra-curricular activities at King’s. We believe they are vital for developing character, for encouraging teamwork, leadership, self reliance and preparing the boys to be active citizens. Throughout a boy’s time at the School there are many clubs and societies which they can enjoy.
We are proud of our range of lunchtime and after-school clubs and activities. There are jazz ensembles, orchestras, choirs, bands and plays. There are regular fixtures at local and national level against other schools for all age groups in the major team games (rugby, cricket, football). The school also promotes minority sports and competes nationally in water polo.
Diverse activities offered include a flourishing Combined Cadet Force (CCF), the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and the Young Enterprise Club. There are numerous other clubs and societies, such as chess, quiz teams, language clubs, community service, fundraising for charity and arts clubs.
Boys are encouraged to make the most of the opportunities available to them and to develop interests and skills which will enrich their lives. Our activities bring together boys of different ages and create an environment in which good and mutually supportive relationships flourish.
