Non-School Uniform Day

School Council non-uniform day raises money for Multiple Sclerosis and Friends of Chernobyl Children.

The School Council voted to support two charities with their non-uniform day:

1) Friends of Chernobyl's Children is a registered charity which devotes its energies to raising funds to bring children, who are at risk, from Belarus to the United Kingdom for a month every year. The charity targets children from orphanages or disadvantaged homes, aged between seven and thirteen. These children are in great need and come from social situations that make it difficult for them to get the care they require at home.

2) Joe Mile an Old Boy and a team of rowers are going to compete in the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge to raise money for MS.  They will row 3000 miles over 60 days with four men and one boat.  This is a daunting task and it’s perhaps no surprise that more people have been into space, or climbed Everest than have rowed the Atlantic. It will take a certain kind of person to keep going when faced with exhaustion, hallucination, blisters, salt rashes, sharks and sleep deprivation. That’s why the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is one of the toughest races on earth.
