Sixth Form

Sixth Form Studnets

The vast majority of students at King's continue their studies into the Sixth Form. The school also admits a number of external entrants to the Sixth Form each year. Boys from a wide variety of schools join us to study A Levels and they feature prominently in our academic and extra-curricular successes. The Sixth Form of approximately 300 students is characterised by strong academic, cultural and sporting traditions. The Sixth Form is a happy, purposeful community with a pleasant learning environment. Both these characteristics enable it to be a highly effective bridge between school and Higher Eduaction or the world of work.

At present Sixth Formers study 3 or 4 A level subjects. All students have a dedicated hour of tutor time each week and participate in Games and Enrichment Activities which include Personal Development, Careers and HE guidance. Students also have the opportunity to study The London Institute of Banking & Finance’s Certificate in Financial Studies (CeFS) which the school believes provides a strong foundation for ensuring strong personal financial literacy. In the Sixth Form we enjoy close working relationships with our sister grammar school, Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School as well as other providers. These links provide the opportunity of a wider range of courses to follow as well as accompanying social benefits.

As well as a broad choice of academic subjects the school offers a wide and growing range of opportunities to develop the transferable skills, competencies and resilience which foster confidence and are so attractive to future employers. First class opportunities for extra-curricular involvement, leadership and personal development include: - An extensive competitive and purely social sporting offer; Duke of Edinburgh Award; Academic and social mentoring schemes; orchestras, bands and ensembles; a CCF contingent of over 150 students; a range of charity work including the King’s School Toy Bank; School and House prefecting roles and paid employment as lunchtime supervisors.
