This role involves acting as a co-ordinator of the mental health provision across the Academy, supporting in identifying students at risk of, or showing signs of, mental ill health by triaging, assessing, providing therapeutic support, safeguarding support, developing Individual Action Plans and signposting to appropriate organisations internally and externally.

Working alongside the Academy's Safeguarding Team, SENCO, counsellors and other staff members, the successful applicant will co-ordinate support for students with mental health difficulties, working with diverse issues, including bereavement and loss, transition, eating disorders, self-harm, depression, anger management, abuse and anxiety.

Applicants will be considered for weekly working arrangements from 22.5 to 37 hours per week. Please indicate your preference on the application form.

The salary for this post is GLEA Grade 7 Points 18 to 21 (£28,371 to 31,099 on a full time, full year basis). This post is offered on the basis of 39 weeks per year and the actual starting salary on the basis of full time hours (37 per week), 39 weeks per year is £24,810 per annum.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and as this post is considered to be ‘regulated activity’, a check through the Disclosure and Barring Service including the children’s barred list.

Successful applicants must be familiar with, and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection and promote the welfare of students.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules, see https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dbs-filtering-guidance) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
