Rugby

At the King’s School, we are extremely proud of our sporting record and achievements in rugby.  Across the spectrum of both the 15 and 7 a side codes, we enjoy a national reputation for producing teams and individuals who are either winners or regarded as somewhat tough to beat! Each year, numerous students earn NLD (Nottingham, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire) honours in rugby and several have gone on to represent the Midlands.  Most recently, our U15 team contested the Quarter Final of the Natwest National Vase competition, with the 1st XV reaching the last 32 stage. We run 6 very competitive Rugby squads from years 7-13 who compete on a Saturday morning against all of the best rugby playing independent schools in the area. These include Oakham, Trent College, Mount St. Mary's, Leicester Grammar, Oundle and Welbeck College to name but a few.

Rugby at its best demands skill and art as well as strength, courage and competitiveness. We enjoy our frequent successes yet we also pay tribute to the creativity and co-operative work of all our teams – whatever the outcome. We foster a love of the sport and high standards are demanded both on and off the field of play.

Below is a selection of match reports and fixtures from the current season.
