Specification

The course encourages learners to develop practical skills, creativity, imagination and independence based on personal experience, taught skills and critical understanding.  Developing their intellectual, imaginative and creative capabilities through investigative, analytical, experimental, practical, technical and expressive skills.  Promoting independence of mind in developing, refining and communicating their own ideas and intentions.  Within Year 12 students will develop their higher level technical and analytical skills through a series of teacher led tasks aimed at building the skills.  Within Year 13 students will build a personal portfolio of practical work and a written investigation into their chosen area of study. They will also complete an external examination project consisting of several weeks of preparation work and resulting in a 15 hour timed assessment.

The course is 60% coursework and 40% practical examination.
