Rotary Young Writer Competition

Students compete in Rotary Writing Competition

Entries for the Rotary Young Writer competition were submitted in both senior—Year 12 Literature and Language students—and junior—Year 9, categories.   Students could approach the theme ‘Our Beautiful World’ using their own choice of form.  Year 12 students Harry Evison and Ethan Bell both wrote satirical non-fiction pieces and were placed second and runner-up respectively.  Ben Robinson of 9C placed second in the junior category with his poem inspired by William Shakespeare’s “All the World’s a Stage”.  Ben Burdock and Rio Harada-Parr, both also of 9C, took third place jointly.  Each entrant received a £10 voucher. We are grateful to the Rotary Club for the opportunity to take part and hope that many more boys will be inspired to enter the competition next year.
